Our bi-monthly feeding support group is for moms who have already given birth and want to address their breastfeeding and feeding questions and/or concerns. Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, Margot Simmons, of The Daily Doula, will facilitate a non-judgemental community of support around feeding your baby You’ll get reassurance as well as tailored attention to make breastfeeding and feeding more manageable – and enjoyable. Plus, you can meet other moms facing similar challenges and swap tips about what worked for them. Margot will answer any questions around nipple pain, general nursing challenges, pumping, going back to work, and more. We will also have a milk intake scale on hand so you can find out exactly how much your baby gets during a feeding. Just bring yourself, your baby and a large swaddle blanket!

This class will cover all of the basics to make you prepared in the event of an emergency with your baby, small child and adults as well.   You will receive a First Aid Family Kit included in the price of your booking ($20 value), and your instructor will take you through the items enclosed.  You will be ready to administer CPR, from Adult to Infant, perform the maneuvers for choking, and provide basic first aid for traumatic injuries like bleeding, falls, burns, and poisoning. In the weeks, months, and even years after childbirth, women tend to lose the connection to the deepest muscle of the core: the transverse abdominal. Lack of strength in this area contributes to low back pain, pelvic disorders, urinary incontinence, and a protruding pouch under the belly button. Unfortunately, many traditional exercises performed in the post-natal period (and beyond!) make these conditions worse due to an emphasis on other core muscles at the expense of transverse abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. Christina Schwefel, owner of Go Figure Barre Studios, joins us for a demonstration of how to activate and strengthen the transverse abdominal and pelvic floor. She will also show several exercises that are focused on pelvic floor and abdominal muscle rehabilitation, postural alignment and movement quality and functional conditioning. An additional focus will be on how to modify and progress your exercise safely.

Venue: Go Figure Barre Studio, Darien

Facilitator: Christina Schwefel, Owner Go Figure Barre Studio
